Four Bangladeshi nationals have been arrested today based on confidential information at the Agartala Railway Station. They had illegally entered India from Bangladesh and were planning to board a train to a neighboring country. The operation was conducted jointly by the Agartala GRP, Agartala RPF, and the Intelligence Department.
During initial questioning, the individuals revealed that they were planning to travel to Bangalore and Chennai. It is suspected that many more individuals could be arrested in connection with this case.
A case has been registered at the Agartala GRP Police Station and they will be produced in court tomorrow.
The arrested individuals are identified as follows:
1) Jahirul Islam alias Jahir (42)
District – Dhaka, Bangladesh
2) Dilwar Hossain (44)
District – Sherpur, Bangladesh
3) Jamirul Islam (27)
District – Panchagarh, Bangladesh
4) Mohammad Jia (35)
District – Jamalpur, Bangladesh
Additionally, yesterday, the GRP police recovered 19 packets of cannabis from the Deoghar Express train. The Officer-in-Charge of Agartala Railway Police, Tapos Das, provided detailed information to the media about the operation.
