AGARTALA | SEPTEMBER 2, 2026: To celebrate the divine appearance day of Lord Krishna, ISKCON Agartala is set to organize a grand two-day Janmashtami Mahotsav across the city on September 3 and 4, 2026.
Beyond the state capital, elaborate religious and cultural programs are also being arranged in various sub-divisional chapters across Tripura, including Bamutia, Dharmanagar, Kumarghat, Baikora, and Palatana.
Key Program Schedule & Spiritual Highlights
- Day 1: September 3 (Thursday)
- Nagar Sankirtan: The festival will officially commence at 4:00 PM with a grand Nagar Sankirtan (processional chanting) originating from the Purbasha Grounds in Agartala. Devotees will march through key city corridors chanting the Hare Krishna Mahamantra.
- Evening Evening Rituals: The grand procession will culminate at the temple premises for the solemn Sandhya Aarti and Adhivas ceremonies.
- Day 2: September 4 (Friday – Janmashtami Tithi)
- Day-Long Celebrations: From early morning through midnight, the main ISKCON temple will host special devotional discourses, continuous kirtan, cultural performances, and traditional Bhoga offerings.
- Midnight Maha Abhishek & Puja: The festivities will reach their spiritual climax at midnight with the ceremonial Maha Abhishek (bath ritual of the deity) accompanied by special prayers and Prasadam distribution.
