AGARTALA | June 24, 2026: Rallying under the resonant and inspiring theme, “Eso Sabai Shapath Kori, Madak Mukta Rajya Gori” (Let Us All Pledge to Build a Drug-Free State), a massive and colorful state-level awareness rally was successfully organized on the streets of the capital city today. The joint initiative was spearheaded by the West Tripura District Administration in close coordination with the District Social Education Directorate.
The mega campaign was organized to mark the global observance of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking (2026) and to reinforce the state’s zero-tolerance policy against narcotics.
Top Leadership Rallies Civil Society Against Substance Abuse
The grand procession was officially flagged off early in the morning in the presence of a distinguished panel of administrative heads, social activists, and youth icons. Leading the mass awareness drive from the front was the Honorable Minister for Youth Affairs & Sports and Social Welfare & Social Education, Shri Tinku Roy.
Hundreds of school and college students, NCC cadets, NSS volunteers, Anganwadi workers, and representatives from various non-governmental organizations marched in unison, carrying placards, banners, and chanting anti-addiction slogans to sensitize urban communities.
The rally traversed the major commercial lanes, academic zones, and historic thoroughfares of Agartala, creating a highly visible impact before securely concluding at its designated assembly point.
Government Vows Strict Action Against Cross-Border Smuggling Syndicates
Addressing the massive gathering of youth and security personnel at the conclusion of the rally, Minister Tinku Roy re-emphasized the state government’s unyielding determination to dismantle the operational roots of drug networks in Tripura.
”Our message is loud, clear, and absolute: there is no place for narcotics in the future of Tripura’s youth. The slogan ‘Eso Sabai Shapath Kori, Madak Mukta Rajya Gori’ must transcend being a mere quote and turn into a daily social responsibility for every family. While our law enforcement agencies are working relentlessly to break cross-border illicit trafficking syndicates, civil society must actively step up to protect our children from peer-driven drug abuse. We are expanding counseling cells and youth sports hubs to channel this vibrant energy into constructive nation-building,” Minister Tinku Roy asserted.
Comprehensive Multi-Sector Strategy Outlined
To mark the global day, the West Tripura District Administration outlined a series of localized enforcement and wellness parameters to be sustained throughout the month:
- Decentralized Counseling Cells: Launching dedicated, confidential mental health and de-addiction helplines under the Social Education department to guide affected youth toward rehabilitation.
- Intensified Border Vigilance: Coordinating with border enforcement wings to deploy specialized canine squads and tracking units to intercept synthetic drug routes.
- Community Watch Programs: Forming localized youth clubs and parenthood circles to monitor and report suspicious activities or illicit peddling near school perimeters.
The event wrapped up with a collective solemn pledge administered by the dignitaries to all attending students and citizens to reject substance abuse completely and actively foster a healthier, drug-free society.
