AGARTALA: In a stellar validation of rural governance, multiple local self-government bodies from Tripura have bagged prestigious accolades at the National Panchayat Awards 2025. To formally announce this nationwide achievement, Rural Development (Panchayat) Minister Kishore Barman hosted a high-level press conference at the Civil Secretariat’s press briefing hall on Saturday.
Addressing media professionals, the Minister detailed how the state’s rural bodies excelled on national parameters, highlighting a transformative shift toward tech-driven administrative transparency and sustainable development across Tripura’s villages.
Setting National Benchmarks in Rural Governance
The National Panchayat Awards evaluate grassroots performance across complex, multi-tiered socio-economic indicators. Tripura’s winning panchayats stood out prominently for their execution of central and state welfare designs.
Core Areas of Excellence Recognized by the Ministry of Rural Development:
- Good Governance & Transparency: Implementation of 100% digitized fund tracking, timely social audits, and robust public grievance redressal systems at the village council level.
- Sustainable Infrastructure: Exceptional deployment of rural drinking water grids, clean energy pathways, and climate-resilient community assets.
- Social Security & Welfare Integration: Achieving saturated coverage for institutional health deliveries, fully localized immunization drives, and direct benefit transfers (DBT) for vulnerable rural clusters.
“A Joint Triumph for Our Rural Leaders and Citizens”: Minister Kishore Barman
Attributing the national success to disciplined, synchronized teamwork between local administrative wings and grassroot citizens, Rural Development Minister Kishore Barman commended the field execution teams.
”It is a proud moment for our state that Tripura’s panchayats have carved out a distinct identity at the national level by winning the National Panchayat Awards 2025. This prestigious recognition proves that our rural bodies are no longer just administrative branches—they have transformed into active models of transparency, good governance, and high-quality public service.
This milestone is the direct result of the collective, tireless efforts of our grassroot panchayat representatives, dedicated government officials, and the active participation of our rural citizens. This national badge of honor will greatly motivate our local bodies to innovate further and work with renewed vigor. The state government remains deeply committed to advancing this momentum of holistic rural empowerment,” Panchayat Minister Kishore Barman stated during the press meet.
State Vows to Replicate Winning Models Universally
The Panchayat Directorate noted that specialized workshops will soon be organized where the award-winning village councils will share their best practices with other rural blocks. By replicating these successful blueprints across all districts, the government aims to systematically upscale standard living indices, clean sanitation grids, and self-reliant micro-economies throughout rural Tripura.
