AGARTALA: Following the shocking and sudden demise of Tripura’s Director General of Police (DGP), Anurag Dhankar, inside the Police Headquarters in Agartala today, senior government ministers and political leaders across parties have expressed profound grief and offered their condolences.
Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, Forest Minister Animesh Debbarma, and Tripura BJP State President Abhishek Debroy voiced their grief and shared their reactions regarding the tragic incident.

Expressing deep shock over the untimely death of the 1994-batch IPS officer, Transport and Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury stated that the state has lost an extremely capable, dedicated, and experienced administrator. He expressed his condolences to the bereaved family members and prayed for the departed soul.
Forest and Tribal Welfare Minister Animesh Debbarma also expressed anguish over the incident, describing it as an irreparable loss to Tripura’s administrative framework. He noted that DGP Dhankar had served the nation and the state in various high-level capacities with utter sincerity.
BJP State President Abhishek Debroy Urges Patience
Tripura Pradesh BJP President Abhishek Debroy offered his condolences and addressed the media regarding the ongoing speculations surrounding the cause of death.
”We are deeply saddened and shocked by the tragic news of DGP Anurag Dhankar’s passing. While various preliminary reports are circulating, the exact cause of death will only be established conclusively following the post-mortem report. A magisterial-level investigation will look into the matter, and the truth will come to light shortly. I request everyone to refrain from unverified speculations during this painful moment,” Debroy stated.
The political fraternity across the state continues to mourn the officer’s demise as police and administrative authorities proceed with formal investigation procedures.
