AGARTALA: Following the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan amid relentless nationwide student demonstrations, the Students’ Federation of India (SFI) Tripura State Committee organized a massive, energetic Marshal Rally through the streets of Agartala today. The rally hailed the historic victory of the student-youth movement protesting at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar and across various states.
The demonstration saw thousands of student activists marching with torches and red flags, raising victory slogans and demanding sweeping, corruption-free educational reforms.
High-Profile Left Leadership Joins the Rally
The rally was led by prominent CPI(M) and student leaders, marking strong solidarity between political and youth fronts:
- Shri Jitendra Chaudhury: Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in Tripura Legislative Assembly and CPI(M) State Secretary
- SFI Tripura State Leadership: State Secretary and office-bearers
- Senior representatives from TSU, DYFI, and allied Left-wing democratic organizations.
Rally Traverses Key Capital Routes
Commencing from the city center, the vibrant Marshal Rally marched through crucial intersections of Agartala, including Paradise Chowmuhani, Post Office Chowmuhani, and Orient Chowmuhani. The streets resonated with slogan-shouting, drum beats, and victory cheers.
Addressing the gathering at the rally’s conclusion, Leader of the Opposition Jitendra Chaudhury praised the unwavering spirit of the student community.
”The resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan is a monumental victory for student unity and democratic resistance against systemic corruption in competitive examinations. It proves that no government can suppress the legitimate demands of the country’s youth forever. However, our fight does not stop here—we will continue to demand complete transparency, structural reforms, and fair opportunities for every student,” stated Shri Jitendra Chaudhury.
SFI state leaders affirmed that the organization will remain vigilant to ensure that national examination boards maintain total integrity and that public education remains accessible and fair to all.
