AGARTALA: In a strategic move to boost localized economic production and accelerate small-scale self-employment initiatives, the Swadeshi Jagran Manch (SJM), Tripura Mahanagar Unit, organized a formal press conference on Sunday. The media interaction was hosted at a designated venue in the Ramnagar area of the capital city.
The briefing was spearheaded by the core organizational executives of the Manch’s Tripura Prant (State Wing), drawing a dense gathering of print, electronic, and digital journalists. The central objective of the press meet was to outline the organization’s upcoming state-wide campaign focusing on economic self-reliance, the promotion of indigenous cottage industries, and building resistance against unchecked foreign e-commerce dominance in local markets.
A Grassroots Drive for Localized Economic Sovereignty
The Swadeshi Jagran Manch, an economic think-tank aligned with indigenous development philosophies, has been expanding its organizational presence across Tripura’s urban and semi-urban clusters to foster entrepreneurship among local youth and women’s self-help groups (SHGs).
Key Institutional Focus Areas Shared During the Press Briefing:
- The “Swavalambi Bharat Abhiyan” Rollout: Launching localized entrepreneurship guidance cells across all municipal wards of Agartala to mentor first-generation youths in setting up micro-enterprises.
- Promoting Indigenous Micro-Industries: Urging the public to prioritize locally manufactured Tripura handicraft items, bamboo-based utility goods, and regional agro-products to strengthen the state’s internal financial circulation.
- Skill Development Collaboration: Coordinating with local technical institutes to provide specialized digital marketing and supply-chain training to rural artisans, enabling them to bypass exploitative middlemen.
“Economic Self-Reliance is the Only Path to Sustainable Youth Employment”: SJM Leadership
Addressing the media pool in Ramnagar, the senior state executives of the Swadeshi Jagran Manch emphasized that macro-economic growth is meaningless unless it positively impacts neighborhood small-scale traders.
”True development happens when our local youths switch from being job seekers to job creators. Through this press meet today, the Swadeshi Jagran Manch is announcing a massive, block-level awareness campaign across the Mahanagar area to popularize the vision of an Atmanirbhar (Self-Reliant) Tripura. We cannot rely entirely on large corporate entities or foreign-funded digital platforms that drain capital out of our neighborhood economies.
Our state is incredibly rich in natural resources, especially bamboo, rubber, and unique horticultural produce. Our mission is to provide the necessary handholding, technical awareness, and market linkage to our traditional artisans and young innovators. We are appealing to every citizen of Tripura to actively adopt ‘Swadeshi’ choices in their daily lives, which will directly safeguard the livelihood security of thousands of families right here in our state,” a senior leader of the Swadeshi Jagran Manch Tripura Prant announced to reporters.
The organization concluded the press event by announcing that a series of localized “Swadeshi Melas” (Indigenous Trade Fairs) and youth startup seminars will be organized across different sub-divisions in the coming weeks to provide a direct commercial launchpad for local producers.
