AGARTALA | June 23, 2026: The 8-No. Town Bordowali Mandal committee of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today observed the ‘Balidan Diwas’ (Martyrdom Day) of the iconic nationalist thinker, visionary statesman, and Bharatiya Jana Sangh founder, Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee, with profound respect and appropriate solemnity.
The commemorative event was organized at the local organizational office to honor his lifelong dedication to national integration and territorial sovereignty.
Tributes Paid to the Architect of National Integration
The memorial service was led by the BJP 8-No. Town Bordowali Mandal President, Shri Shyamal Kumar Dev, along with senior mandal executives, booth committee members, and youth front workers. The dignitaries commenced the program by offering floral tributes and lighting traditional lamps before the portrait of the nationalist pioneer.
Addressing the gathered karyartas, Mandal President Shyamal Kumar Dev highlighted Dr. Mookerjee’s historic struggle for the complete integration of Jammu and Kashmir with the rest of India.
”Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee is the foundational inspiration and guiding spirit behind our movement. He sacrificed his life to defend the unity and integrity of our motherland, famously proclaiming that there cannot be two constitutions, two flags, and two prime ministers in a single nation. Today, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, that vision has been fulfilled. It is the core duty of every party worker to carry his ideals of selfless nationalism down to every household,” Mandal President Shyamal Kumar Dev stated.
Rededication to Grassroots Public Service
The leadership panel utilized the solemn occasion to reinforce organizational discipline and outline localized civic engagement modules:
- Ideological Seminars: Organizing localized micro-conventions across the wards of the Bordowali constituency to educate the youth on Dr. Mookerjee’s contributions to industrial policy and education.
- Social Welfare Drives: Launching immediate community-level service drives, including plantation programs and health check-ups, to mark the commencement of the week-long commemorative calendar.
- Strengthening Booth Frameworks: Encouraging page-pramukhs and booth workers to align their public outreach strategies with the foundational values of national welfare first.
Similar memorial services and organizational programs honoring Dr. Mookerjee’s legacy were reported from various district and mandal offices across the state today.
