Tripura has taken a leading role in the Central Government’s newest initiative for tribal development by launching the Dharti Aaba Janbhagidari Abhiyan, a 15-day nationwide campaign starting June 15 and running through June 30, 2025. The campaign is a core component of the Janjatiya Gaurav Varsh, commemorating the legacy of tribal freedom fighter and icon Bhagwan Birsa Munda—reverently known as Dharti Aaba.
The mission of this campaign is clear: achieve 100% saturation of welfare schemes for eligible tribal citizens by November 15, 2025, the birth anniversary of Birsa Munda. These efforts are being executed in mission mode through strong intergovernmental convergence and grassroots-level mobilization.
Focus on Total Coverage and Grassroots Outreach
Tripura’s government has prioritized comprehensive coverage of essential central and state-run schemes, including:
- Aadhaar enrollment
- Ayushman Bharat health insurance
- PM-KISAN income support
- Jan Dhan Yojana bank accounts
- Scholarship schemes for tribal students
To ensure that no eligible individual is left behind, the campaign features an aggressive grassroots engagement strategy. Special outreach drives, awareness campaigns, and door-to-door verification efforts will be conducted during the campaign window.
Speaking at the district-level launch, District Magistrate Vishal Kumar stated:
“Today, on behalf of the District Administration, we have launched the Dharti Aaba Janbhagidari Abhiyan Yojana. This scheme is designed to achieve 100% saturation of both central and state-sponsored schemes in tribal areas.”
Infrastructure Boost for Long-Term Impact
In addition to welfare delivery, the campaign emphasizes critical infrastructure development in tribal areas. The first phase will deliver 20 to 22 services across seven sectors via special camps. The broader development plan includes:
- Rural roads
- Electricity connections
- Clean drinking water
- Anganwadi and child development centres
These infrastructure goals are targeted for completion by October 2, 2025, ahead of the final deadline.
Financial Provisions and Flexibility
To ensure smooth implementation, the programme also includes special financial provisions.
“In areas where routine schemes fall short of funds, financial support will be extended from this initiative,” Kumar added. “This means that extra funding will be available specifically for tribal areas.”
A Vision for Empowerment
With November 15, 2025 set as the milestone for delivery, this campaign is more than a short-term push—it is a comprehensive tribal empowerment initiative aimed at delivering equity, dignity, and long-term development to some of the country’s most underserved communities.
Tripura’s proactive leadership in this national effort sets an example for other states and reflects the growing emphasis on inclusive governance and people-centric development under the Janjatiya Gaurav Varsh banner.
