The Tripura Police Crime Branch has made significant progress in the investigation into the massive seizure of EsKuf cough syrup bottles from a goods train at Jirania Railway Station last month. Two additional suspects have been taken into custody, bringing the total number of arrests in the case to three.
The individuals arrested have been identified as Arun Kumar Ghosh and Himanshu Jha alias Sonu. Arun Kumar Ghosh, aged 58 and son of the late Krishnadhan Ghosh, was detained in Kolkata, while Himanshu Jha, aged 32 and son of Alok Jha, was picked up in Delhi. Transit legal formalities for both suspects are currently underway.
The initial arrest in the case was made on October 31 when Rajib Dasgupta, son of Basanta Kumar Dasgupta, was detained in connection with the seizure of 1,07,800 bottles of EsKuf cough syrup from the goods carrier train at Jirania Railway Station on October 16, 2025. This seizure marked one of the largest hauls of illegal drugs in the state.
The Anti-Narcotics Wing of the Tripura Police Crime Branch (TPCB) is actively working to uncover and apprehend other individuals involved in the illegal drug transport and supply network. The authorities are determined to bring all those responsible for this criminal activity to justice.
