AGARTALA: In a fierce protest against recent controversial political statements, activists of the Tripura Pradesh Mahila Congress organized a demonstration on Thursday in Agartala, burning effigies of Union Minister Pralhad Joshi and BJP Member of Parliament Kangana Ranaut.
Led by state Mahila Congress leaders, scores of women activists gathered outside the Pradesh Congress Headquarters (Congress Bhawan) holding placards and shouting slogans against the central leadership. The protesters condemned BJP MP Kangana Ranaut over derogatory remarks directed at protesting youth and women, while criticizing the Union government and Minister Pralhad Joshi for failing to restrain inflammatory statements.
Key Highlights of the Demonstration
- Effigy Burning: Protesters blocked the road outside Congress Bhawan and set fire to the effigies of Union Minister Pralhad Joshi and MP Kangana Ranaut, signaling strong public resentment.
- Demand for Resignation: Demonstrators demanded the immediate resignation of Kangana Ranaut from the Lok Sabha and urged the Central Government to address pressing social and educational concerns instead of targeting youth activists.
- Heavy Security Presence: Security forces were deployed near the venue to prevent traffic disruptions and maintain law and order during the intense agitation.
Addressing media personnel during the demonstration, Mahila Congress leaders warned that if such disrespectful rhetoric against women and youth continues, the women’s wing will intensify nationwide protests in the coming days.
