AGARTALA | June 22, 2026: In a major political and social mobilization, the Tripura Tapasili Jati Samanway Samiti (Tripura Scheduled Caste Coordination Committee) has issued a powerful state-wide call to action, urging citizens, rights groups, and democratic collectives to unite against the rising tide of atrocities targeting Dalit communities and women across the state and the country.
The immediate catalyst for this intensified resistance movement is the tragic death of Manisha Das, a case that has sparked widespread outrage and renewed focus on institutional accountability and systemic violence.
Demanding Justice for Manisha Das
Through an official declaration, the working committee of the Samiti expressed deep grief and structural concern over the circumstances leading to the untimely demise of Manisha Das. The leadership characterized her death not as an isolated incident, but as part of a deeply concerning trend of vulnerability faced by women and marginalized communities.
The organization demanded an immediate, transparent, and high-level judicial inquiry into the incident to ensure that perpetrators are brought to justice without bureaucratic delay.
”The tragic death of Manisha Das is another painful reminder of the structural insecurity surrounding Dalit families and women in our society. We cannot remain silent spectators to this continuous erosion of human dignity and safety. The Tripura Scheduled Caste Coordination Committee calls upon every conscientious citizen to break the silence, step forward, and build a unified resistance against these horrific atrocities, both in Tripura and across the nation,” the organizational statement declared.
Call for National and State-Wide Mobilization
The Samiti outlined a multi-layered campaign framework aimed at challenging institutional apathy and fostering grassroots security networks:
- Grassroots Resistance: Organizing sub-divisional rallies, human chains, and street-corner conventions across Tripura to raise mass public consciousness regarding constitutional rights and legal protections.
- Legal Aid and Support Cells: Setting up dedicated community monitoring groups to assist victims’ families in navigating administrative challenges, ensuring proper filing of FIRs, and obtaining legal representation.
- National Accountability: Aligning with broader national forums to challenge systemic bias and demanding strict implementation of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
The leadership emphasized that the battle for the safety of women and Dalits transcends political lines, calling for an absolute, non-partisan stance from civil society to protect democratic values.
