Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha has announced a significant initiative to bolster the state’s economy through a major expansion of rubber cultivation. The plan includes extending rubber cultivation to an additional 20,485 hectares of land and establishing 10 new rubber processing centers.
Dr. Saha emphasized the state government’s commitment to the welfare of its citizens, stating, “The Bharatiya Janata Party-led government is a people-oriented government. This government is continuously working for the welfare of the people. Rubber cultivation will be increased in 20,485 hectares of land in the state, and 10 new rubber processing centers will be set up.”
The Chief Minister made this announcement while inaugurating a series of development projects in the Khowai district. These projects span multiple sectors, demonstrating the government’s focus on comprehensive development.
The development projects inaugurated include:
- The newly constructed Teliamura Motor Stand aims to improve transportation infrastructure and provide better facilities for passengers and transport workers.
- The virtual inauguration of three school buildings: Teliamura English Medium Class XII School, Kabi Nazrul Vidya Bhavan Class XII School, and Mungiabari Class XII School. This initiative is part of the government’s effort to enhance the educational environment and improve access to quality education.
- At a separate event at Kalyanpur Higher Secondary School in the Khowai district, the Chief Minister inaugurated the two-story building of the school.
- Virtually inaugurated new buildings for the Kalyanpur BDO Residence and Birchandrapur Higher Secondary School.
- Flagged off two blood collection transportation vans, which will improve healthcare services in the region.
Dr. Saha highlighted the government’s ongoing efforts across the state, saying, “I went to Dharmanagar the day before yesterday and inaugurated about 46 projects. In this way, such programs are being held almost every day. People from different places are constantly asking about my schedule. This proves that we are continuing development works across the state under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”
The Chief Minister also addressed the government’s focus on improving the quality of education. “Since our government came to power, we have been trying to develop every department. Not just school buildings, but also the learning environment of schools are being improved. Efforts are also being made to ensure that students receive quality education. The state government is continuously working to address the shortage of teachers. Now, qualified teachers are being recruited through the Teachers’ Recruitment Board, Tripura,” Dr. Saha stated.
Dr. Saha also mentioned that over 16,000 government jobs have been provided in the last seven years. “We aim to provide even more jobs — it’s only a matter of time,” he added.
Regarding the development of Teliamura, Dr. Saha said, “Today marks another milestone in the development of Teliamura. Along with enhancing passenger comfort, transport workers will also benefit significantly. Keeping in mind the Prime Minister’s vision, the state government is working for the welfare of the people. The government is focused on all sectors, including education, health, and agriculture. Efforts are also being made to improve people’s skills.”
The Chief Minister provided an overview of various development initiatives in the Khowai district over the past year. He mentioned the ongoing construction of National Highway (NH 208) from Khowai to Teliamura, under a central project by the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. Additionally, he noted that land acquisition work is in progress for the four-lane expansion of National Highway (NH 08) from Mungiakami to Champaknagar.
“Many promising projects have been included in this year’s budget. The Bharatiya Janata Party-led government is a compassionate government that has consistently proven itself to be a people’s government,” Dr. Saha concluded.
The event was attended by Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, Tribal Welfare Minister Bikas Debbarma, Chief Whip of the Legislative Assembly Kalyani Saha Roy, Khowai District Sabhadhipati Aparna Singh Roy, Secretary of the Transport Department C.K. Jamatia, District Magistrate of Khowai Rajat Pant, Director of the Education Department N.C. Sharma, and other dignitaries.
