AGARTALA | June 29, 2026: In a significant push to optimize grassroots social security grids in the Northeast, the Union Minister for Women and Child Development, Smt. Annapurna Devi, today conducted an extensive field inspection of key developmental projects in the Abhoynagar area of Agartala. The central minister’s high-profile itinerary was designed to audit infrastructure standards and assess welfare delivery networks targeted at marginalized women and children.
Accompanied by Tripura’s Social Welfare and Social Education Minister, Shri Tinku Roy, and Departmental Secretary, Shri Tapan Das, the Union Minister reviewed multiple ongoing central assistance pipelines.
### Inspecting Multi-Disciplinary Learning and Urban Safety Frameworks
During her field evaluation, Minister Annapurna Devi visited Girls’ Unit-II Child Care Institution (CCI) at Abhoynagar, the “Saksham” Anganwadi Centre attached to the Mahila Ashram, and the under-construction Working Women’s Hostel project. Interacting with the children and administrative supervisors, she emphasized the shift toward practical skill development and vocational independence.
Lauding the local execution models, the Union Minister stated that Tripura’s child welfare operations are setting a benchmark for other states to emulate.
”The Child Care Institution operations here in Tripura are running among the best in the country. An excellent atmosphere of multi-disciplinary learning has been created, where children are not only receiving formal education but are also being trained in diverse activities to make them self-reliant for future trades. The ‘Saksham’ infrastructure here serves as a perfect blueprint. Whenever I chair national reviews, I will actively encourage other state administrations to visit Tripura, study this model, and replicate these operational best practices across their own respective regions,” Union Minister Annapurna Devi shared with media personnel.
Expanding the Central Infrastructure Footprint in Tripura
Reviewing the pace of under-construction projects under the Mission Shakti and Mission Vatsalya umbrellas, the central delegation mapped out clear guidelines for fast-tracking upcoming projects:
- Upgrading Anganwadi Ecosystems: The Minister noted that ten new advanced Anganwadi centers have been sanctioned for the state to expand early childhood care.
- Securing Urban Working Spaces: Reviewing the layout of the new Working Women’s Hostel, she directed engineers to install strict digital security networks and provide standard living amenities for working professionals traveling from rural blocks.
- Strengthening One-Stop Centers: Instructing department secretaries to integrate counseling facilities, legal aid desks, and immediate medical emergency routers under a singular digital desk layout.
The inspection concluded with a technical review meeting at the state circuit house, where the Union Minister assured that the central ministry will continue providing relaxed funding ratios to ensure the complete digitization of child health tracking and malnutrition metrics across the state’s rural divisions.
