The power infrastructure in Tripura is set to receive a major upgrade worth Rs 1,800 crore, announced Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath on June 18. This modernization project aims to improve the power transmission infrastructure in the state, with a focus on introducing live-line repair technology.
During the inauguration of a 132 kV substation in Amarpur under Gomati District, Minister Nath emphasized the importance of introducing technology that would allow repairs on power transmission lines without the need to shut down power. This advancement is expected to enhance the efficiency of maintenance work and reduce disruptions in power supply.
In addition to the live-line repair technology, Minister Nath outlined several other plans to further improve the power department in Tripura. These include utilizing drones to monitor and identify faults in tower lines for maintenance and preventive measures, commissioning mobile substations to provide immediate alternatives during disasters, and addressing excess pressure on the power system during peak summer months.
The development of the transmission infrastructure is being carried out in collaboration with the Government of India and the World Bank, highlighting the commitment to enhancing the power sector in Tripura. With these initiatives, the state aims to ensure reliable and uninterrupted power supply to its residents and facilitate sustainable economic growth.
