Millions of Rupees Wasted! Uproar as Boundary Wall of Udaipur Railway Station Collapses
A significant portion of the boundary wall of Udaipur railway station has collapsed. Construction work had just begun when on Saturday, residents of Udaipur were shocked to witness a massive section of the boundary wall of Udaipur railway station, which is part of the ambitious Amrit Bharat station scheme, crumble down. It was like a bizarre scene from a disaster movie! In August 2023, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the Amrit Bharat station scheme, allocating a whopping Rs. 24,700 crores to upgrade 508 railway stations in India. The goal of the Amrit Bharat station scheme is to create more modern, luxurious, and entertaining railway stations in collaboration with international partners. The project includes the redevelopment of the Dharmanagar, Kumarghat, and Udaipur railway stations. For this, a budget of Rs. 96.7 billion has been allotted, with nearly Rs. 34 billion earmarked for the Udaipur railway station.
State-of-the-art engineering techniques were to be used to construct the boundary wall around the Udaipur railway station. Additionally, two overpasses and an overbridge were also planned. Residents of Udaipur had hoped that this time, the Udaipur railway station would be a modern and world-class station, as they had once witnessed the grandeur of the Amrit Bharat station festival. However, their hopes were dashed as a significant portion of the boundary wall collapsed unexpectedly on Saturday. Authorities Hiranmay Das and Manager Ganesh Mitra stated that it was a wild accident. But the residents of Udaipur had not anticipated that the sturdy boundary wall would crumble away. Even after last year’s disaster, where a building collapsed due to a wild accident, the residents of Udaipur did not pay much attention. Manager Babu’s response has sparked laughter around the incident. Even the construction workers are listening to all this with disgust.
According to Manager Ganesh Mishra, authorities Hiranmay Das and Manager Babu did not address these trivial matters. It can be assumed that the authorities are squandering millions of government funds and leading a luxurious lifestyle with huge profits under the guise of providing better services. Or perhaps Hiranmay Das and Manager Babu are so powerful that they do not pay attention to the low-level responsibility of the construction work of the boundary wall at the railway station and the incident of the collapse of a large portion of that boundary wall along with the low-quality materials. This is causing a storm of controversy and debate among the residents of Udaipur. However, experts argue that the entire issue indicates a massive corruption scheme according to the opinions of the expert panel.
