In a landmark event for the health sector in Tripura, the Director of AIIMS, New Delhi, Dr. Srinivasan, along with his team of experts and senior officials from the Tripura Health Department, held a press conference today at the AGMC Council Room in Agartala. During the conference, Dr. Srinivasan emphasized that the doctor-to-patient ratio in Tripura is satisfactory compared to national standards, but pointed out that the nurse-to-patient ratio needs improvement. He identified this as an area that requires focused attention and enhancement.
The AIIMS team acknowledged the wide range of healthcare services available in Tripura, noting that patients have access to treatment for a variety of diseases, ranging from cancer care to neurological services. Dr. Srinivasan highlighted the advantage of Tripura’s good road infrastructure, allowing patients to reach major referral hospitals within 3 to 4 hours, a convenience not commonly found in other parts of the country.
In a significant announcement, the AIIMS Director stated that his team would soon submit a detailed report with comprehensive suggestions and guidelines for further improvement of the state’s healthcare system. The recommendations will focus on enhancing trauma care services and optimizing available resources to provide better healthcare services to the people of Tripura.
Dr. Srinivasan also offered full cooperation from AIIMS, New Delhi, proposing that doctors, nurses, and paramedical staff from Tripura could be sent to AIIMS for training and support. This collaboration aims to strengthen the skills and capabilities of healthcare professionals in the state.
