AGARTALA: Following the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) landslide victory in the 2026 West Bengal Assembly Elections, Member of Parliament and former Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb returned to the state today to a celebratory welcome. Having served as a key strategist and co-in-charge for the party’s campaign in West Bengal, Deb was greeted by hundreds of exuberant party workers and supporters at the Maharaja Bir Bikram (MBB) Airport.
The airport premises echoed with slogans of “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” and “Biplab Deb Zindabad” as the MP stepped out of the terminal, where he was showered with flower petals and presented with traditional bouquets.
A Triumphant Return
Biplab Kumar Deb’s return is being seen as a victory lap for the Tripura BJP unit, which sent numerous volunteers and leaders to assist in the Bengal campaign. The historic “change” in West Bengal—where the BJP has unseated the Trinamool Congress by winning 206 seats—has significantly boosted the morale of the local cadre.
Highlights of the Reception:
- Ushna Abhyarthana (Warm Welcome): Supporters from various mandals, led by Yuva Morcha and Mahila Morcha members, gathered at the airport gate with party flags and sweets.
- Political Sentiment: Supporters credited Deb’s organizational experience and “grassroots connects” for the impressive performance in the constituencies he oversaw during the high-stakes election.
“The People Have Voted for Peace”: Biplab Kumar Deb
Interacting with media personnel at the airport, MP Biplab Kumar Deb expressed his gratitude to the voters of West Bengal for choosing the “Double Engine” model of development.
”I have always said that my horoscope does not know defeat when it comes to serving the people. This victory in West Bengal is a mandate against the politics of fear and intimidation. The people of Bengal have finally embraced the path of progress under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi. I am proud of our ‘Karyakartas’ from Tripura who worked tirelessly on the ground to make this possible,” Biplab Kumar Deb stated.
Impact on Tripura’s Political Landscape
The MP’s return coincides with celebrations for the BJP’s recent success in the Dharmanagar assembly by-election in North Tripura. Political analysts suggest that the “Bengal Effect” and Deb’s triumphant return will further solidify the BJP’s organizational grip as the state prepares for upcoming local body polls.
After his arrival, the MP joined a victory procession toward the party headquarters in Agartala, where he is scheduled to meet with Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha and other senior leaders to discuss the party’s future roadmap for the state.
