Tipra Motha MLA Ranjit Debbarma of the Tipra Motha Party has issued a stern warning to the Tripura and central governments, demanding immediate action against illegal immigration from Bangladesh. Speaking at a rally in Agartala, Debbarma emphasized the need to implement the Ministry of Home Affairs’ directives in Tripura to safeguard the indigenous population.
The rally, attended by a diverse group of individuals from various communities, called for the identification and deportation of illegal Bangladeshi and Rohingya immigrants living in the state. Debbarma stressed that the issue was not political, but rather a matter of national security and community rights.
Drawing attention to similar actions taken in other states, Debbarma urged the Tripura government to act swiftly or face intensified protests in the near future. He highlighted his long-standing commitment to fighting against illegal immigration, even raising the issue at the United Nations in 1997.
By echoing the sentiment of Tipra Motha’s founder, Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma, Debbarma urged unity among the people beyond political affiliations to protect their land and future. He reiterated the importance of identifying and repatriating illegal immigrants to preserve the security and sovereignty of the country.
Emphasizing that the movement is not targeting any specific community but focusing on enforcing existing laws to address illegal immigration, Debbarma made it clear that the ultimate goal is to secure the rights, lands, and future of the indigenous population. As tensions rise over this pressing issue, the Tipra Motha MLA’s call for action signals the potential for increased protests if the government fails to act promptly.
