The Founder of the Tipra Motha Party, Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma, is demanding a comprehensive voter survey be conducted in Tripura, following reports of discrepancies in Bihar’s voter list. He stated that his party’s MLA will be writing to the Election Commission of India (ECI) to request a door-to-door survey as part of the Commission’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in Tripura.
The call for the survey comes after a similar exercise in Bihar revealed that individuals originally from Nepal, Bangladesh, and Myanmar were listed as voters in the state. Pradyot emphasized the need for a similar examination in Northeast India, particularly in Tripura. He stressed that indigenous Tiprasa people or officers should be involved in the survey.
Expressing his frustration, Pradyot questioned why Bihar was prioritized over the Northeast by the ECI. He highlighted the importance of ensuring accuracy and fairness in the voter list in all regions of India. He urged MLAs from the Tipra Motha Party to push the EC to conduct the same survey in Tripura and called on people in the Northeast to pressure their regional parties to do the same.
Pradyot’s demand for a voter survey in Tripura reflects his commitment to upholding the integrity of the electoral process and ensuring that all citizens, regardless of their background, have the opportunity to participate in democratic elections. The Tipra Motha Party’s efforts to advocate for a comprehensive survey highlight the importance of accurate voter lists in maintaining the democratic principles of India.
