Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha has announced plans to address the disparity in Dearness Allowance (DA) between central and state government employees in the state. Currently, central government employees receive 53% DA, while their state counterparts in Tripura receive only 33%.
During a public programme, the Chief Minister stated that the state government has released 29% DA to its employees over the past 29 months. He emphasized the government’s efforts to reduce the gap between the Central government employees and the state government workforce, pointing out that more than 19,000 regular posts have been filled since the BJP came to power in the state.
Responding to criticism from the opposition CPI(M) regarding ceremonial appointment letter distribution events, Saha defended the government’s actions. He mentioned that appointment letters were previously distributed through CPI(M) party offices, a practice that has been stopped by the current government.
Saha also addressed a major administrative cleanup, noting that 10,323 teachers had lost their jobs due to illegal appointments under the previous Left Front government. He highlighted that the Supreme Court had upheld the verdict to dismiss these teachers, following the High Court of Tripura’s judgment.
In addition to these reforms, the Chief Minister outlined his government’s vision for healthcare in Tripura. He announced plans to transform the state into a medical hub by establishing new medical, nursing, and paramedical colleges. Saha expressed the goal of reducing referral cases for modern or critical treatment by setting up advanced medical facilities in the state.
Furthermore, Saha mentioned improvements in healthcare services and reiterated the government’s commitment to providing access to advanced medical facilities for the people of Tripura. Plans are underway to establish a state-of-the-art eye hospital near GBP Hospital and AGMC, as well as a super-speciality hospital near Khujurbagan in Agartala.
