In a major blow to drug traffickers, Assam Rifles, in coordination with the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), seized a massive consignment of Yaba tablets worth around ₹39 crore in Cachar district on the night of January 20.Based on specific intelligence inputs about narcotics movement along National Highway 306, the joint team launched a targeted operation and apprehended three individuals, all residents of Tripura. During the search, security personnel recovered 1,30,000 Yaba tablets being transported illegally.The operation also led to the seizure of two Tata trucks used for carrying the contraband and two mobile phones from the possession of the accused. Authorities have initiated further investigation to trace the larger drug trafficking network involved in the racket.Assam Rifles has intensified anti-drug operations across the Northeast and continues to play a key role in dismantling organized narcotics networks and curbing cross-border drug smuggling.
