AGARTALA: Along with the rest of the nation, the Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) today celebrated India’s 77th Republic Day with solemnity and a call to protect the “soul of the Constitution.” The main event was held at the party’s state headquarters, Congress Bhavan, in Agartala, where top leadership gathered to honor the democratic framework of the country.
Flag Hoisting and Constitutional Pledge
The ceremony began with the unfurling of the National Flag by the Tripura Pradesh Congress President, Ashish Kumar Saha. Following the salute and the singing of the National Anthem, the leaders and party workers took a collective pledge to uphold the secular and democratic values enshrined in the Preamble of the Indian Constitution.
Addressing the gathering, Ashish Kumar Saha reminded the workers of the Congress party’s historical role in the freedom struggle and the drafting of the Constitution.
“Republic Day is not just a ceremonial event; it is a day to remind ourselves that the power of this nation lies in its people and its laws. We must remain vigilant against any attempt to weaken our constitutional institutions,” Saha remarked.

Senior Congress leader and MLA Sudip Roy Barman, who was also present at the celebration, extended his greetings to the people of Tripura. In a brief interaction with the media, he highlighted the importance of “Justice, Liberty, Equality, and Fraternity.”
“Today we celebrate the document that gives every Indian a voice. In a state like Tripura, which is known for its diverse culture and strong democratic participation, we must ensure that the rights of every citizen—regardless of their political or social background—are protected. This is the true meaning of the Republic,” Sudip Roy Barman stated.
