AGARTALA: The 77th Republic Day was celebrated across Tripura today with immense patriotic fervor and solemnity. The main state-level function was held at the historic Assam Rifles Ground (Astable Ground) in Agartala, where the Hon’ble Governor of Tripura, Indra Sena Reddy Nallu, unfurled the National Tricolour and received the ceremonial salute.
Ceremonial Parade and Military Might
The program commenced at 9:00 AM as the Governor, accompanied by Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha, arrived at the venue. After hoisting the National Flag, the Governor inspected the guard of honor and took the salute from 16 marching platoons, including the Border Security Force (BSF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Tripura State Rifles (TSR), Tripura Police (both men and women units), Forest Guards, NCC, and various school contingents.
The parade showcased the discipline and strength of the state’s security apparatus. A significant highlight was the display of modern equipment used by the Tripura Police and a colorful tableau presentation by various government departments, highlighting the state’s progress in agriculture, tourism, and the “Digital Tripura” initiative.
Governor’s Address: Focus on Development and Unity
In his Republic Day address, Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu congratulated the people of the state and paid rich tributes to the martyrs and freedom fighters. He highlighted the significant strides Tripura has made in the past year.
“Our government is working with the vision of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas.’ From doubling the income of our farmers through schemes like PM-KISAN to ensuring 100% saturation of social pensions, Tripura is moving steadily toward becoming a model state in the Northeast. On this 77th Republic Day, I urge every citizen to contribute toward the shared vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat’ and a ‘Viksit Tripura’,” the Governor remarked.

- Farmer Welfare: The Governor noted that the government is prioritizing the farming sector, which supports 70% of the state’s population, through enhanced irrigation and the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana.
