Agartala: In a heartwarming blend of community service and cultural celebration, the The South Tripura Bus Owners’ Association (Battala-Nagerjala branch) marked its 35th Foundation Day today with a series of events at the Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Bus Terminal in Nagerjala. The highlight of the day was a massive Sit-and-Draw Competition, which saw enthusiastic participation from local children.
The event was officially inaugurated by the Association’s President, Kamal Deb, who emphasized the organization’s three-and-a-half-decade-long commitment to the transport sector and social welfare in Tripura. Joining him were Program Chairman Bijoy Saha and General Secretary Uttam Saha, along with other senior members of the association.
Fostering Creativity Amidst the Commute
The Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Bus Terminal, usually a bustling hub of passengers and vehicles, was transformed into a canvas of colors. Over a hundred children participated in the art competition, depicting themes ranging from nature to the “Green Tripura” initiative.
Speaking to Tripura24.in, Program Chairman Bijoy Saha stated, “Our foundation day is not just about the bus owners; it is about the community we serve. By organizing this art competition, we want to encourage the young generation to express their creativity.”
Month-Long Social Initiatives
The Foundation Day celebrations are part of a month-long calendar of social activities planned by the association. Earlier this week, the association announced several humanitarian projects, including:
- A Mega Blood Donation Camp to support local hospitals.
- Floral tributes at the statue of Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee.
- Social aid programs for the families of transport workers.
General Secretary Uttam Saha noted that the association has evolved from a simple transport union into a vital social pillar for Agartala, particularly in the Battala and Nagerjala regions. The event concluded with the distribution of participation certificates and prizes to the young artists, leaving a sense of joy and festive pride among the transport community.
