In a significant milestone for the state’s healthcare sector, the State-Level Launching Programme of the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) Vaccination Campaign was held today at the IGM Hospital, Agartala. The initiative, aimed at protecting young girls from cervical cancer, was officially inaugurated at 11:30 A.M. in the presence of senior health officials and medical professionals.
The introduction of the HPV vaccine into the state’s public health framework is a proactive step by the Health Department to reduce the burden of cancer among women in Tripura.
Focus on Prevention and Awareness
During the launch, health experts emphasized that cervical cancer is one of the most common cancers among women, yet it is highly preventable through timely vaccination. The campaign primarily targets young girls between the ages of 9 and 14 years, as the vaccine is most effective when administered early.

- Vaccination Drive: The first set of beneficiaries received their doses during the inaugural session at IGM Hospital.

The event concluded with a technical session for nursing staff and health workers on the proper administration and documentation of the HPV vaccine.
