AGARTALA | June 16, 2026: To honor the memory of the three Indian sailors who recently lost their lives following a targeted military strike attributed to US imperialist aggression, a solemn candlelit memorial and tribute program was organized in Agartala this evening.
The commemorative assembly was organized under the joint initiative of student and youth wings representing the Ramnagar Local Committee. The event took place at the busy Fire Service Choumuhani intersection in the capital city.
Left Youth Fronts Condemn Global Aggression
A large number of student activists, youth leaders, and local residents gathered at the prominent junction at dusk, holding burning candles, organizational flags, and posters condemning international military overreach. The participants paid deep respect to the portraits of the deceased maritime workers, declaring them martyrs who fell victim to geopolitical conflicts in international waters.
Addressing the gathering, youth committee speakers launched a sharp critique against aggressive foreign policies and military interventions that jeopardize the lives of innocent commercial seafarers and workers worldwide.
”The tragic demise of three of our fellow Indian sailors is a direct consequence of reckless imperialist aggression. These maritime workers were merely fulfilling their duties when their vessel was struck. We assemble here tonight not only to mourn their ultimate sacrifice but to voice our absolute protest against such global high-handedness. The international community and our central government must ensure the absolute safety of Indian citizens working across global trade routes,” a frontline student representative stated during the memorial gathering.
Call for Global Peace and Worker Security
The roadside memorial concluded with the chanting of revolutionary slogans demanding global peace, national accountability, and an immediate end to unilateral military actions affecting neutral territories.
The organizers emphasized that the student and youth communities of Tripura will continue to stand in solidarity with working-class families who bear the brunt of international warfare. Passing pedestrians and local shop owners around the Fire Service zone also paused to offer flowers and observe a two-minute silence in memory of the departed sailors.
