AGARTALA: Marking the completion of eight years of the BJP-led government in Tripura, State Spokesperson Nabendu Bhattacharya addressed a press conference today at the party’s state headquarters, Kushabhau Thakre Bhavan. Accompanied by Media In-charge Sunit Sarkar, Bhattacharya presented a detailed report card of the government’s successes, highlighting a “qualitative transformation” in the state’s landscape.
From Debt to Development: The Economic Turnaround
Bhattacharya began by noting that the BJP government inherited a massive debt burden from the previous Left Front regime. Despite these financial hurdles, the current administration has successfully instilled economic discipline.
- Antyodaya Vision: The government’s primary goal remains reaching the last person in the queue.
- Infrastructure Boom: Significant progress has been made in connectivity, highlighted by the transformation of the MBB Airport into a world-class facility and the upcoming Jackson Gate project.
- Digital Governance: Transparency has been prioritized by extending E-governance down to the Panchayat level, ensuring that government benefits reach citizens directly without middleman interference.
Fulfilling the “Vision Document” Promises
The spokesperson emphasized that the BJP has stood by the commitments made in its pre-election Vision Document.
”We promised the implementation of the 7th Pay Commission, and we delivered. The Fitment Factor was set at 2.57, fulfilling our word to state employees. Furthermore, the government is continuously working to bridge the gap in DA (Dearness Allowance) and DR, ensuring our employees are fairly compensated,” Bhattacharya stated.
Sector-Wise Success Highlights
During the briefing, the BJP leader touched upon several key sectors:
- Health: The establishment of advanced Trauma Centers and the overall overhaul of health services across districts.
- Agriculture: Successful procurement of paddy at Minimum Support Price (MSP), directly benefiting thousands of farmers.
- Education & Rationing: Introduction of modern educational reforms and a more robust, transparent Public Distribution System (PDS).
- Civil Liberties: Bhattacharya claimed that under BJP rule, citizens now enjoy the freedom to express their opinions independently, a stark contrast to the previous era.
Counter-Attack on Jitendra Chaudhury: The Rose Valley Rebuttal
Responding to recent comments by CPIM State Secretary Jitendra Chaudhury regarding chit funds, Nabendu Bhattacharya launched a scathing counter-attack.
He reminded the public of the Left Front’s alleged proximity to Rose Valley.
”Why did the then CM Manik Sarkar praise Rose Valley on public platforms? Why did he attend their events and encourage people to invest there instead of government savings schemes? One of their ministers was even an agent for the company,” Bhattacharya questioned.
He suggested that Jitendra Chaudhury might be raising the issue now because he wants a “fresh public discourse” on the Left’s past failures and involvement in the chit-fund scams.
