AGARTALA | June 14, 2026: Loud cheers, green and red colors, and intense victory slogans filled the Agartala court complex this evening as the opposition-backed alliance achieved a landslide victory in the high-stakes Tripura Bar Association (TBA) biennial election.
The Save the Constitution Forum (Samvidhan Bachao Manch)—a joint panel formed by the legal wings of the Congress and the CPI(M)—completely swept the executive committee seats, defeating the ruling BJP-backed Ainjibi Unnayan Mancha in a major political turn of events.
Post-Counting Celebrations Light Up Court Premises
As soon as the returning officers completed the counting of the secret ballots and announced the final tallies for the key portfolios, hundreds of pro-alliance advocates burst into ecstatic celebrations. Winning candidates were lifted on shoulders, garlands were exchanged, and sweets were distributed across the bar rooms, marking a major shift in the administration of the state’s largest legal body.
”This historic victory is a clear mandate against administrative interference in the judicial ecosystem. The legal fraternity of Tripura has unitedly voted to protect constitutional values, institutional transparency, and the democratic rights of practicing advocates. We pledge to work tirelessly for the welfare of all members of the bar,” a newly elected office-bearer stated amidst the victory rally.
The massive win for the Congress-CPI(M) alliance is being viewed by political analysts as a significant boost for the opposition camp, reflecting a shifting sentiment among the state’s intellectual and legal fraternity ahead of upcoming local bodies and administrative panel elections in Tripura.
