AGARTALA | June 14, 2026: Further intensifying the public outrage surrounding the mysterious death of 22-year-old hostel warden Manisha Das at Tripura Santiniketan Medical College, three major left-wing student and youth organizations staged a powerful joint demonstration at the busy Battala intersection in Agartala today.
The All India Mahila Sanskritik Sang संगठन (AIMSS), All India Democratic Students’ Organisation (AIDSO), and All India Democratic Youth Organisation (AIDYO) joined forces to block streets and hold a demonstration, strictly demanding an uncompromised judicial investigation into the case.
Left Fronts Allege High-Level Cover-Up at Private Medical College
The protestors gathered in large numbers at the Battala commercial hub, carrying organizational flags, festoons, and placards calling for immediate justice. The body of the young warden from Madhuban was found inside the girls’ hostel room of the private medical college last Wednesday under highly suspicious circumstances.
The student and youth leaders openly challenged the initial police narrative and rejected standard local administrative probes, alleging that the powerful management of the private medical institution is using its influence to cover up a cold-blooded murder.
”A young woman from a working-class family loses her life mysteriously at her workplace, and the administration tries to clear the institution’s name overnight. We will not tolerate this. The state government must immediately set up a high-level judicial inquiry to unearth the absolute truth. Standard police investigation is not enough when dealing with such influential corporate entities,” frontline student leaders asserted during the street rally.
Warning of Prolonged Statewide Agitations
Following the demonstration, a street-corner assembly was held at the Battala point, heavily disrupting traffic in the capital city for a brief period. Speakers from AIMSS, AIDSO, and AIDYO jointly warned the state’s Home Department that the voice of the youth cannot be silenced by administrative pressure.
The leadership concluded the agitation by announcing a unified roadmap for a larger movement. They warned that if a fair judicial probe is not sanctioned immediately, the three organizations will launch a massive statewide civil resistance campaign, including college strikes, sub-divisional blockades, and continuous sit-in demonstrations outside administrative offices until the culprits are arrested and punished.
