AGARTALA | June 19, 2026: In a sharp counter-offensive against the opposition’s political narrative, local residents and village committees are gearing up to voice their protest against what they term as a “malicious misinformation campaign” aimed at defaming the ruling BJP over the tragic demise of hostel warden Manisha Das.
A massive public street assembly (Pathasabha) has been scheduled to take place at the Kathaltali intersection in Agartala under the direct leadership of local MLA and senior leader Ramprasad Paul.
Villagers Counter Left Front Narrative
The ruling party leadership and local village representatives have strongly criticized CPI(M) State Secretary Jitendra Chaudhury, accusing him and his party machinery of exploiting a sensitive tragedy for narrow partisan gains. The organizers of the upcoming rally stated that the opposition is intentionally twisting facts to create public unrest and malign the image of the local administration.
According to the local area committees, the residents of the locality have decided to break their silence and present the ground realities to counter the left front’s propaganda.
”A deeply unfortunate death is being used as a political tool by CPI(M) State Secretary Jitendra Chaudhury to spread absolute falsehoods and communal division. The villagers and local residents of Kathaltali know the truth and will no longer tolerate this malicious campaign designed to taint the party and administration. Under the guidance of MLA Ramprasad Paul, the common people will expose this conspiracy on the streets,” a local organizing committee member stated.
Massive Street Mobilization Planned at Kathaltali
The upcoming political assembly at the Kathaltali area is expected to see a large turnout of rural and semi-urban booth-level workers, women’s front representatives, and neutral civil society members.
The core objectives outlined by the rally organizers include:
- Exposing Falsehoods: Publicly addressing and debunking specific allegations raised by the left front leadership regarding the investigation.
- Support for the Law: Expressing solidarity with the ongoing official police investigation and demanding that the law be allowed to take its course without political interference.
- Maintaining Peace: Urging local communities to maintain peace and reject any attempts by external political elements to disrupt social harmony in the area.
Senior subdivision leaders and block panchayat members are also slated to address the gathering alongside MLA Ramprasad Paul to reinforce the party’s counter-narrative ahead of the upcoming local body assessments.
