AGARTALA | June 20, 2026: In a major breakthrough in the ongoing investigation into financial irregularities within the state government, the New Capital Complex (NCC) Police arrested another individual in connection with the multi-million government fund embezzlement case in the Directorate of Biotechnology.
The arrested individual has been identified as Sanjib Deb, a resident of the Ujan Abhoynagar locality in Agartala.
Acting on specific intelligence and tracking linked transactions, an NCC police team conducted a raid on Friday night and took the accused into custody. Providing details on the breakthrough, the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of the NCC Range, Subrata Barman, stated that the arrest follows an intensive forensic audit of the departmental accounts and cross-interrogation of previously detained suspects. The police have initiated legal procedures to produce the accused before the local court, seeking police remand for further custodial interrogation to uncover the wider network involved in the fraud scheme.
