AGARTALA | June 20, 2026: In a major push for agrarian growth and welfare, a state-level ceremonial event was organized today at the State Agricultural Research Centre in A.D. Nagar, Agartala, to mark the national release of the 23rd installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme for the April–July 2026 cycle.
The state-level screening was graced by the Honorable Chief Minister of Tripura, Dr. Manik Saha, and Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath, alongside high-ranking administrative officials and hundreds of local farmers.
PM Modi Releases Tranche from West Bengal
The event in Agartala was digitally linked to the main national program held simultaneously at Tarakeswar in the Hooghly district of West Bengal. Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially released the 23rd installment from the West Bengal venue, directly transferring over ₹18,880 crore via the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mechanism into the bank accounts of more than 9.44 crore eligible farmers across India.
The national event also coincided with West Bengal Day celebrations in Hooghly. Prime Minister Modi shared the stage with the newly elected Chief Minister of West Bengal, Suvendu Adhikari, and other top-tier central and state ministers.
”PM-KISAN has provided unprecedented financial stability to our small and marginal farmers. Today, under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi, thousands of farmers in Tripura have simultaneously received their ₹2,000 seasonal assistance directly in their accounts. Our state government is committed to modernizing agriculture, expanding crop insurance, and ensuring that scientific research from centers like A.D. Nagar seamlessly transitions to our fields,” Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha stated while addressing the gathering in Agartala.
Digital Connectivity Empowers Grassroots Farmers
The entire proceedings from Tarakeswar, including the technical addresses on the Digital Agriculture Mission, natural farming clusters, and structural insurance schemes, were live-streamed at the A.D. Nagar complex.
The integration of the regional event with the central program highlighted several key operational achievements:
- Direct Financial Injection: Over 4.5 lakh eligible farmers across Tripura are set to benefit from this latest tranche, further boosting rural consumer spending.
- Agri-Tech Platform Launch: The delegation in Agartala observed the launch of the new central Agri-Tech interface designed to streamline fertilizer distribution and digital Kisan Credit Card (KCC) access.
- Focus on Local Research: Minister Ratan Lal Nath urged local scientists at the research center to accelerate soil testing and bio-input deployment to complement the central government’s organic farming goals.
Following the formal addresses, the dignitaries interacted with local progressive farmers, distributing certificates and reviewing the latest agricultural technology exhibits housed at the state research center
