AGARTALA | June 22, 2026: Document verification and the final admission rush for undergraduate (UG) courses across Tripura’s government degree colleges began in full swing today. Following the official publication of the first round of merit lists, hundreds of fresh applicants and parents flooded college campuses across the state to secure their seats for the 2026–27 academic session.
The centralized admission process, which is being handled uniformly via the unified SAMARTH online portal, originally commenced its online application registration window on May 29, 2026.
Campuses Witness Heavy Footfall for Verification
Since early Monday morning, prominent higher education hubs in the capital city—including Bir Bikram Memorial (BBM) College, Maharaja Bir Bikram (MBB) College, and Women’s College—reported long queues at designated verification counters. Similar reports of high student turnout were received from rural and sub-divisional degree colleges across the districts.
College authorities have set up dedicated single-window screening counters to systematically validate the original academic certificates, income declarations, and reservation category credentials submitted online by candidates during the portal registration phase.
”The transition to the centralized SAMARTH portal has streamlined the initial application phase significantly. However, since today marks the operational start of physical admissions after the first merit list release, we have deployed additional faculty members and non-teaching staff to manage the verification desks. Our priority is to ensure a smooth, transparent enrollment experience for the incoming batch while strictly adhering to the state’s reservation and merit guidelines,” a senior administrative official from the Directorate of Higher Education stated.
Strict Guidelines and Next Phases of Admission
With the admission process scheduled to run in a phased manner to accommodate thousands of board pass-outs, college tracking boards have issued specific instructions for the candidates:
- Mandatory Documentation: Applicants must bring printed copies of their SAMARTH application forms, seat allotment letters, original mark sheets, and relevant identity documents to their verified venues.
- Fee Payment Timelines: Upon successful physical verification of credentials, students must complete their online admission fee payments within the stipulated deadlines to lock in their allotted seats.
- Subsequent Merit Lists: Seats left vacant after the first phase of document verification will be automatically mapped and carried forward to the second and third institutional merit lists, which are expected to be announced over the coming weeks.
Help desks managed by NSS volunteers and student unions have been set up near entry gates across various campuses to guide rural students through the layout of the physical verification rooms.
