AGARTALA | July 29, 2026: Setting off the festive fervor across the capital ahead of the upcoming Sharadotsav (Durga Puja 2026), the renowned Chhatrabandhu Club of Agartala formally conducted its traditional Khuti Puja ceremony today at the club premises. Marking the ceremonial beginning of pandal construction, the organizers announced that this year’s central theme will feature a majestic architectural replica of the revered Kamakhya Temple of Assam.
With an estimated budget scaled between ₹40 lakh to ₹45 lakh, the club committee expressed high optimism that their immersive thematic execution will emerge as one of the premier attractions in the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) area and captivate thousands of festival-goers.
Blending Architectural Splendor with Spiritual Grandeur
The Khuti Puja rituals were performed amidst traditional dhak beats, chanting of sacred hymns, and active participation from senior club members, local community elders, and youth fronts.
Speaking to the media following the foundational ceremony, the Chhatrabandhu Club Puja Committee outlined that specialized artisans and pandal sculptors have been engaged to replicate the intricate stone carvings, sanctum architecture, and spiritual ambience of the iconic Nilachal Hill shrine in Guwahati.
Key highlights of this year’s Durga Puja project include:
- Architectural Precision: Recreating the distinctive beehive dome architecture and exterior relief panels modeled closely after the historic Kamakhya Temple structure.
- Lighting and Aesthetic Ambience: Integrating customized ambient lighting setups and traditional acoustic soundscapes to offer visitors a holistic pilgrimage experience.
- Eco-Friendly Construction: Prioritizing organic materials, bamboo frameworks, and eco-conscious paint coats for both the pandal architecture and the sacred idols.
- ”Durga Puja in Agartala has evolved into a global showcase of art, community unity, and heritage. At Chhatrabandhu Club, we strive every year to deliver a unique, culturally enriching experience for the people of Tripura. Recreating the holy Maa Kamakhya Temple is a profound spiritual initiative for us. With a structured budget of ₹40 to ₹45 lakhs, our team of skilled artisans is working tirelessly to ensure every single detail reflects authenticity. We are fully confident that our marquee pandal will touch the hearts of devotees and stand out as a major centerpiece during this year’s Sharadotsav celebrations,” the executive organizers of Chhatrabandhu Club stated during the post-ceremony media interaction.
Crowd Management and Safety Frameworks Initiated
Alongside the creative layout, the club executive committee confirmed that comprehensive coordination meetings are underway with local police authorities and the Agartala Municipal Corporation to streamline foot traffic during peak evening hours.
The venue layout will incorporate dedicated emergency access lanes, volunteer-managed queues, multi-point CCTV surveillance, and specialized health desks to ensure a safe and smooth viewing experience for senior citizens and children throughout the multi-day festival.
