AGARTALA: Demonstrations demanding the immediate resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan entered their fourth consecutive day today, as youth activists and student groups intensified their agitation in the strategic Circuit House area of Agartala.
The protesters, assembling under a unified banner, raised energetic slogans and held placards criticizing central educational policies and administrative irregularities.
Key Highlights of the Day 4 Agitation:
- Sustained Sit-in Near Circuit House: Demonstrators gathered in large numbers near the Circuit House zone, creating a vocal blockade and asserting that their movement will continue until their demands are met.
- Core Demand for Resignation: Agitators accused the Union Education Ministry of failing to address crucial student grievances, examination integrity concerns, and regional educational infrastructure gaps, reiterating that Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan must step down taking moral responsibility.
- Solidarity with National Protests: The local youth leadership highlighted that this ongoing movement in Tripura aligns directly with similar hunger strikes and sit-ins organized by student-youth platforms in New Delhi and across the country.
Strict Police Security & Traffic Regulation
Given the strategic sensitivity of the Circuit House area—which houses key administrative offices and official residences—a heavy contingent of Tripura Police and paramilitary forces was deployed along the perimeter. Multi-layered barricades were erected to manage the crowd and prevent any escalation or unauthorized movement toward high-security zones.
Despite brief altercations between security personnel and demonstrators over barricade limits, the protest proceeded peacefully.
