AGARTALA | June 23, 2026: In a significant move aimed at evaluating monsoon preparedness and accelerating regional crop yields, the Honorable Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare of Tripura, Shri Ratan Lal Nath, today participated in a high-level national video conference. The vital coordination session was chaired by the Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
The pan-India meeting evaluated climate resilience models, contingency layouts for drought management, and logistics deployment maps for the ongoing Kharif sowing season.
Surplus Monsoon Boosts Tripura’s Kharif Sowing Groundwork
Briefing the Union Ministry on the state’s agricultural health, Minister Ratan Lal Nath noted that Tripura has already recorded a healthy volume of rainfall, which is slightly above the historical average for this quarter. He assured the central panel that the state administration has completed exhaustive micro-level arrangements to maximize productivity during the Kharif cycle.
A comprehensive supply network has been operationalized to ensure that marginal and small-scale farmers face no shortages at the grassroots level.
”Under the guidance of Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, we reviewed all critical agro-parameters today. I am happy to state that Tripura has received surplus rainfall this season, and our farmers are in an advantageous position. We have fully stockpiled high-yield variety (HYV) seeds, adequate fertilizer reserves, advanced sprayers, and efficient irrigation support mechanisms across all agricultural subdivisions. Emergency buffer assets are also standing by to tackle any localized weather anomalies,” Minister Ratan Lal Nath stated.
Queen Pineapples to Take Center Stage at National Stadium on June 27
Beyond monsoon contingency planning, the high-stakes dialogue focused heavily on showcasing Tripura’s premier agricultural export—the organic Queen Pineapple—on the global map. The ministers discussed detailed preparations for the upcoming International Pineapple Day celebration, which is scheduled to be hosted at the prestigious Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in New Delhi on June 27, 2026.
Tripura will be setting up specialized stalls and trade pavilions at the national venue to attract domestic buyers, international export corporations, and food processing agencies.
The state’s delegation at the New Delhi event aims to build direct business-to-business (B2B) supply chains, cutting out middlemen and ensuring that Tripura’s fruit growers receive maximum financial value for their world-class organic produce.
