AGARTALA | June 26, 2026: In a major push to strengthen the state’s agrarian framework and safeguard the rights of local farmers, a high-profile convention under the ‘Khet Bachao Abhiyan’ (Save the Farmland Campaign) was successfully organized at the Bamutia Berimura Higher Secondary School premises today.
The significant rural outreach convention was graced by the Honorable Chief Minister of Tripura, Dr. Manik Saha, who attended as the chief guest alongside a distinguished panel of agricultural ministers, regional MLAs, and top administrative officials.
Transitioning Toward Modernized Farming and Financial Security
The convention drew hundreds of local farmers, agricultural laborers, and cooperative society members from various pockets of the Bamutia assembly constituency. The campaign focuses heavily on preserving cultivable land, resisting unauthorized commercial conversions, and integrating technology to boost the double-cropping yield across rural Tripura.
Addressing the large gathering of agricultural workers, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha highlighted that the state government is deploying specialized funds to modernize rural infrastructure, ensuring that farmers do not abandon their traditional occupations due to market challenges.
”Our land is our ultimate asset, and through the ‘Khet Bachao Abhiyan,’ we are drawing a firm line to protect our fertile sectors. The state government is working tirelessly to introduce solar-powered micro-irrigation systems and cold storage facilities right at the sub-divisional level. We want to ensure that our farmers get fair pricing for their hard-earned harvests without middleman exploitation. Education and agriculture are the twin pillars that will drive the economic self-reliance of a new Tripura,” Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha asserted.
Key Highlights and Administrative Policies Enforced
During the interactive seminar session, the administrative panels outlined several targeted interventions planned for the Bamutia and Mohanpur sectors:
- Protecting Farmland Integrity: Establishing stricter land-revenue tracking models to prevent the illegal conversion of highly fertile agricultural lands into unplanned commercial or residential blocks.
- Expanding Organic Farming Subsidies: Distributing specialized high-yield seed kits, bio-fertilizers, and providing direct financial assistance to small-scale farmers transitioning to organic cash crops.
- Infrastructure Upgrades: Synchronizing agricultural growth with school infrastructure, encouraging local youth and students to participate in vocational agri-technology and modern farming workshops.
The event concluded with the symbolic distribution of advanced agricultural tools and power-tillers to selected beneficiaries by the Chief Minister and other dignitaries.
