AGARTALA: Highlighting the state’s exemplary model of grassroots governance, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha and Panchayat Minister Kishore Barman inaugurated the prestigious State-level Panchayat Award distribution ceremony at AD Nagar today.
The event was organized to celebrate and honor Tripura’s outstanding achievements in rural administration, with local public representatives, senior administrative officials, and panchayat members from across the state in attendance.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha noted that approximately 80% of Tripura’s panchayats have established themselves as national front-runners, reflecting the government’s sustained focus on good governance and rural transformation. He stated that the true measure of democracy lies in developmental initiatives that uplift the socio-economic conditions of rural citizens. Highlighting Tripura’s nationwide dominance, the Chief Minister proudly mentioned that Tripura’s panchayats have recently secured top ranks at the national level, including Sepahijala being recognized as the best district panchayat and Kanchanbari Gram Panchayat being named the nation’s best Healthy Panchayat.
Panchayat Minister Kishore Barman also addressed the ceremony, thanking the grassroots representatives and administrative officers for their dedicated efforts. He emphasized that the introduction of digital systems like e-Office and capacity-building programs has brought unprecedented transparency, accountability, and speed to rural development. During the program, the dignitaries handed over prestigious awards and financial incentives to the top-performing panchayats, blocks, and village committees, motivating them to continue their excellent work towards making the state “Shrestha Tripura.”
