AGARTALA: Raising a pitch against the deteriorating law and order situation and the rising menace of drug abuse, a joint delegation of the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) and the Tribal Youth Federation (TYF) submitted a memorandum to the Director General of Police (DGP) at the Police Headquarters today.
The youth organizations demanded immediate administrative action to restore the rule of law across the state and implement stringent measures to build a drug-free Tripura.
Addressing the media outside the Police Headquarters, DYFI State President Palash Bhowmik expressed grave concern over the current social atmosphere in the state. He alleged that anti-social activities, violence, and drug trafficking have spiked significantly, pushing the future of the younger generation into deep uncertainty.
”Our movement is aimed at saving the generation. We have placed key demands before the DGP, urging the police department to act neutrally and decisively to establish the rule of law. The promised ‘Nesha Mukt Tripura’ (Drug-Free Tripura) has turned into a hollow slogan while addiction spreads rapidly into our villages and towns. The administration must break the nexus of drug cartels immediately,” Bhowmik stated.
The delegation urged the top police brass to ensure the safety of common citizens, curb local crime, and take unbiased action against perpetrators, warning of larger democratic movements across the state if visible improvements are not made soon.
