AGARTALA: The Tripura state unit of the All India Forward Bloc (AIFB) organized a press conference at its party office today, strongly condemning recent controversial remarks made by West Bengal BJP State President Samik Bhattacharya. The party demanded an unconditional public apology from the BJP leader, warning of a massive statewide agitation if he fails to do so.
The controversy erupted after Samik Bhattacharya, during an event in West Bengal, referred to members of the Forward Bloc—the party founded by Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose—as “goons” while referencing a historical political clash involving Syama Prasad Mookerjee.
Addressing media personnel in Agartala, the Forward Bloc leadership stated that insulting the party and its workers amounts to disrespecting the glorious legacy of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose himself.
”Samik Bhattacharya’s derogatory remarks are not only historically distorted but also a direct insult to the millions of followers who subscribe to Netaji’s ideals. Ideological opposition in Indian history cannot be labeled as hooliganism. We demand that the West Bengal BJP chief immediately withdraw his statement and issue a public apology,” the state leaders asserted.
The Tripura Forward Bloc unit issued a stern ultimatum, declaring that if the BJP leadership does not take corrective measures and tender an apology immediately, the party will launch a massive, widespread democratic movement across all subdivisions of Tripura in the coming days to safeguard the honor and legacy of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.
