AGARTALA: In a deeply emotional and solemn ceremony, full state honors and a ceremonial guard of honor were accorded to the mortal remains of late Director General of Police (DGP) Anurag Dhankar at the Police Headquarters on Akhaura Road today.
Following the tribute ceremony at the Civil Secretariat, the body of the 1994-batch senior IPS officer was brought to the state police headquarters—the very administrative seat he led—for final departmental honors and gun salutes.
Tearful Farewell by Police Fraternity
A armed contingent of Tripura Police presented the traditional arms reverse (Shok Shastra) and offered a grand rifle salute (Salami) in honor of the departed police chief. Buglers sounded the poignant Last Post, marking a heartbreaking moment for the entire force.
Senior police officials—including Inspector Generals of Police (IGPs), Deputy Inspector Generals (DIGs), Superintendents of Police (SPs), and junior staff officers—paid floral tributes and stood in silence to salute their chief one last time. Many officers and personnel were seen visibly emotional as they recalled the late officer’s strict professional standards balanced by his compassionate leadership.
Speaking during the briefing at the headquarters, senior officials remembered DGP Anurag Dhankar as a stalwart law enforcement leader who served the state and central administrative bodies with immense distinction and unwavering integrity for over three decades.
Following the conclusion of the ceremonial parade and guard of honor at the headquarters, the state administration coordinated the final ceremonial proceedings as the state observes official mourning.
