The Ganganagar Block in Dhalai district has been recognized for its outstanding performance in the ‘Aspirational Blocks Programme’ category. The prestigious award was accepted by Dhalai District Magistrate and Collector Saju Wahid A on behalf of the residents of Ganganagar.
A visual presentation highlighted the remarkable achievements of Ganganagar, including the connection of over 2,200 homes to Self-Help Group (SHG) networks, the provision of revolving funds to all SHGs, the construction of 1,600 houses, and the delivery of 100% supplementary nutrition to pregnant women. The block also made significant strides in the implementation of digital boards and e-learning platforms.
The Prime Minister’s Awards scheme, as outlined in a PIB press release, aims to acknowledge innovative and impactful administrative work that contributes to public welfare. For the 2024 awards, a total of 1,588 nominations were received, with only 14 awardees selected across three categories: Holistic Development of Districts, Aspirational Blocks Programme, and Innovation.
Each award includes a trophy, a scroll, and a financial incentive of Rs.20 lakh to support the continuation or scaling up of public welfare initiatives. The recognition of the Ganganagar Block in the ‘Aspirational Blocks Programme’ category is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the residents and officials in driving positive change and development in the region.
