The Government of Tripura has taken a significant step towards enhancing healthcare services in the state by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi. The agreement aims to establish Centres of Excellence in medical education and advanced healthcare services across Tripura.
The MoU was signed in a ceremony held at Tripura Bhawan, New Delhi, in the presence of Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha. Dr. Saha, who also oversees the Health & Family Welfare portfolio, expressed great pride in the partnership with AIIMS, stating that it represents a transformative step towards upgrading medical colleges and hospitals in Tripura.
The Chief Minister emphasized the vision of developing the Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC) and GB Pant Hospital into comprehensive medical hubs with modern infrastructure, advanced diagnostic facilities, and super-specialty care, following the excellence of AIIMS, New Delhi.
Dr. Saha highlighted AIIMS’ global reputation for its contributions to medical education, research, and patient care. He stressed that the collaboration with AIIMS would strengthen Tripura’s healthcare ecosystem and improve access to quality medical services across the state.
The signing ceremony was attended by Dr. M. Srinivas, Director of AIIMS, New Delhi, and senior officials from both AIIMS and the Health Department of the Government of Tripura. This partnership between the Government of Tripura and AIIMS signifies a significant milestone in the state’s efforts to provide world-class healthcare facilities to its citizens, reducing the need for patients to seek treatment outside the state.
