AGARTALA | July 1, 2026: Marking a historic milestone in the state’s parliamentary journey, the Tripura Legislative Assembly today celebrated its 63rd Foundation Day with profound dignity and institutional pride. The Governor of Tripura, His Excellency Shri Indra Sena Reddy Nallu, graced the solemn commemorative ceremony as the Chief Guest at the Assembly complex at 12:00 Noon.
Following the central legislative proceedings, a specialized media briefing was organized later in the afternoon at the International Cricket Stadium complex in Narsingarh to mark the occasion.
Honoring Legislative Heritage and Democratic Traditions
Addressing the august gathering of legislators, veteran parliamentarians, and constitutional heads, Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu extended his warmest greetings to the people of Tripura. He reminisced about the rich history of the house, which has evolved into a vibrant temple of democracy since its inception.
The Governor emphasized the need for maintaining the highest standards of parliamentary decorum, constructive debates, and transparent policymaking to ensure the socio-economic development of all sections of society.
”The 63rd Foundation Day is a momentous occasion to reflect on Tripura’s democratic evolution. Over the past six decades, this legislative house has passed historic statutes that have transformed the socio-economic landscape of the state. Parliamentarians must continue to act as the true custodians of public trust. Our discussions within these walls must always prioritize the welfare of the last person in the queue,” Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu stated during his address.
Media Briefing Hosted at Narsingarh International Stadium
To expand on the historic milestones of the assembly and outline upcoming administrative and infrastructural projects, a formal press briefing was hosted on Wednesday at the under-construction International Cricket Stadium in Narsingarh.
During the media interaction, assembly officials and state representatives highlighted:
- Digital Integration Progress: Updates on the transition of the Assembly archives into paperless digital repositories under the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA) framework.
- Commemorative Publications: Plans to release a specialized historical compendium documenting landmark debates, speeches, and legislative bills passed by the house over the last 63 years.
- Youth Parliament Initiatives: Expanding outreach programs to schools and colleges across Tripura’s eight districts to foster democratic values among the youth.
The event concluded with senior dignitaries honoring long-serving staff members of the assembly secretariat for their dedicated service to the functioning of the state’s legislative machinery.
