AGARTALA | AUGUST 28, 2026: To preserve, promote, and pass on the rich devotional music traditions of the region, the Information and Cultural Affairs (ICA) Department, Government of Tripura, launched a three-day state-level ‘Kirtan Workshop’ at the Bhagat Singh Youth Hostel in Khejur Bagan, Agartala.
The three-day cultural training and promotional initiative commenced on Friday and will run through August 30, 2026, bringing together devotional music artists, cultural researchers, and traditional practitioners from across the state.
Program Objectives & Workshop Details
- Preserving Devotional Heritage: The workshop aims to systematically document, preserve, and popularize classical and folk Kirtan traditions, focusing on vocal styles, traditional instruments, rhythm structures, and lyrical nuances.
- Expert Training & Sessions: Over the three days, expert Kirtaniyas and cultural scholars will conduct practical masterclasses, technical training sessions, and interactive panel discussions for aspiring and practicing devotional artists.
- Venue: Conference Hall, Bhagat Singh Youth Hostel, Khejur Bagan, Agartala.
- Duration: August 28 to August 30, 2026.

The workshop was formally inaugurated in the presence of key local government leaders, ICA department officials, and cultural personalities:
