AGARTALA: Tensions flared outside the East Agartala Women’s Police Station on Wednesday as Left-leaning women’s, youth, and student organizations—including AIDWA, DYFI, and SFI—staged a massive demonstration. The protest was triggered by the alleged abduction and rape of a female student from the College Tila area, with protesters expressing intense outrage over police failure to arrest the perpetrators.
Demonstrators gheraoed the police station premises, raising sharp slogans against the state government and local law enforcement regarding the deteriorating safety of women in Agartala.
