AGARTALA: In a major push toward strengthening rural healthcare infrastructure and expanding doorstep veterinary services, Minister for Animal Resources Development, Fisheries, and Scheduled Castes Welfare, Shri Sudhangshu Das, inaugurated 50 block-level ‘Mini Mobile Veterinary Units’ at Pragya Bhavan in Agartala today. The minister formally launched the fleet by flagging off the vehicles.
The high-profile event was attended by West Tripura Zilla Parishad Sabhadhipati Shri Biswajit Shill, along with around 300 officials and staff members of the Animal Resources Development Department (ARDD).

Government Committed to Doorstep Healthcare for Livestock
Addressing the gathering at Pragya Bhavan, Minister Sudhangshu Das reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to delivering modern, accessible, and farmer-friendly veterinary services directly to the doorsteps of livestock rearers.
”This initiative will play a transformative role in enhancing livestock health, reducing animal mortality rates, boosting productivity, and significantly increasing the income and livelihood of animal rearers across Tripura,” Minister Sudhangshu Das stated during his address.
Expansion of State Veterinary Services & Helpline Integration
Building upon the success of the 13 previously operational Mobile Veterinary Units across Tripura, these newly launched 50 Mini Mobile Units will ensure that every single block receives rapid, localized, and effective veterinary attention.
Key Services Offered via 1962 Toll-Free Helpline:
- Doorstep Medical Treatment & Emergency Care: Immediate response to critical animal health issues.
- Preventive Healthcare: Scheduled vaccinations, deworming drives, and disease surveillance.
- Reproductive & Breeding Services: On-site artificial insemination and pregnancy diagnostic tests.
Equipped with modern veterinary diagnostic and treatment apparatus, these units will remain integrated with the 1962 Toll-Free Veterinary Helpline, enabling farmers across rural Tripura to access emergency animal care with a single phone call.
