The people of Tripura have reason to rejoice as a new train service between Agartala and Guwahati (Narangi) has been approved by the Centre. This development comes as a significant boost to the state’s railway connectivity and is a result of the persistent efforts of West Tripura Member of Parliament, Biplab Kumar Deb.
Taking to social media to share the news, Deb expressed his gratitude towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for giving the green light to this much-needed service. The approval for the new train service follows a meeting between Deb and Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on April 22 in New Delhi, where the MP made a strong case for improved rail connectivity in the region. Among the demands put forth by Deb was the introduction of a direct train linking Agartala to Guwahati, with a focus on passenger convenience and accessibility.
The swift response from the Railway Ministry to approve the new service has been met with appreciation from Deb, who commended Ashwini Vaishnaw for his proactive approach in addressing the needs of the people of Tripura. The commitment made by the Railway Minister during their meeting has now been fulfilled, with the formal conveyance of the decision through an official letter.
