AGARTALA, AUG 7: A delegation from the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) Tripura state unit submitted a memorandum to the Director of the Higher Education Department at Shiksha Bhavan today, highlighting critical grievances regarding the ongoing undergraduate college admission process.
Student leaders met with top officials to raise immediate concerns about seat shortages, portal glitches, and admission delays affecting thousands of applicants across the state.
Key Demands Raised by NSUI
- Increase in College Seats: Urged the department to expand general and honors degree seats in major government colleges to prevent student dropouts.
- Streamlining Admission Portal: Demanded an immediate fix to technical bugs in the online admission portal to ensure smooth application processing for rural students.
- Helpdesks in Colleges: Requested dedicated guidance booths across all degree campuses to assist applicants with choice filling and verification procedures.
The Director of Higher Education assured the delegation that the department is actively monitoring the admission workflow and taking steps to resolve merit list and seat allocation issues at the earliest. NSUI leaders warned that failure to accommodate eligible candidates would trigger broader student-led protests across Tripura.
